We traveled home for Christmas like we do every year. It's about a 13 hour drive to Dallas (where my family is) and then another 3 hours to Oklahoma. It's a haul but it's worth it for so many reasons!
One of the highlights is getting to drive out to the Wildlife Refuge.
I love going to the Wildlife Refuge when we're home, even in the winter. People think of the prairie as being sort of barren but even in the winter it's so alive. The neon green lichens stand out even more than they do in the summer or spring. And I always forget how much easier it is to spot birds on the prairie. In Georgia we have tall thick forests (which I love) that make it difficult to find the source of a bird call.
I just love it. I'll always love it. Those little mountains are why I fell in love with nature and they'll always be home.

Headed Home
This Oklahoma girl is ready for some wind in her hair! T-minus 3 days until we hit the road!!!
In the mean time I'll be listening to Bandrew and wishing it were Wednesday...
Also, for the sake of nostalgia, this song always makes me miss home:

Adventure is Out There...
As we prepare to uproot ourselves from the Great Plains and head east, Keaton and I are trying to drink in every bit of Oklahoma before we leave. This is a beauty you cannot replicate. With that being said I think it's important to realize we all have something like this where we live. There is beauty everywhere and it's up to us to realize how lucky we are to be in it.
This is where I feel closest to God I think. It's also one of the only places I really let my mind go, I'm not sure why that is...
Here's to new adventures and the old ones that inspired us!
Have an excellent holiday my friends!

It's Our Anniversary!!!
Today I have been married to my best friend for TWO YEARS!!!
Marriage has been one of the greatest adventures and the best part about it is that it's always an adventure. We are always going to be learning new things about each other! It is truly the ultimate adventure and I'm so glad that I get to do it with the most wonderful man on this planet!
I thought it would be fun to share our wedding day, which was truly perfect.
Handsome, right??
Our wedding was at a Wildflower Refuge in Texas. My great uncle was the caretaker for years and years so the location meant a lot to my family and it was just absolutely beautiful. *win win!*
Our first dance was to La Vie en Rose by Louis Armstrong. Everything about that night was perfect.

Reunited
I may not have mentioned this before but I have a best friend and her name is Kelsey. She lives in Kansas now and I miss her dearly because she is one of the only people that fully get my sense of humor (and that probably goes both ways...). We have been BFs since 5th grade though so needless to say, our relationship is strong enough to handle it.
BUT SHE IS HERE THIS WEEKEND!!!
We always make it count when we see each other now, so that's fun!
Also this...
Good times!
BTW---> I made it onto the Coast to Coast Challenge blog this week which was pretty flattering! You can check it out here and join in for future challenges!
Enjoy your 3 day weekend! I know I will!

Snow Day
All the snow is long gone (sans the huge brown piles in a few parking lots) but we enjoyed it while it lasted! A white Christmas is something that Oklahoma doesn't see very often and it sure as heck doesn't usually stay more than a day or two! The Wichita Mountains in the snow are just beautiful!!
I prefer Summer and Spring to Winter and Fall but I truly love each one. I especially love that we only get a little bit of winter here in the Sooner state. It was fun while it lasted!
The days are growing longer! I can't wait for Spring. It's so inspiring!
