Day One!

Let me first say Happy New Year! My 2013 had a lovely start and I'm looking forward to every day of it! I am also pleased to say that I have been working diligently on my journal! I'm very very excited about this project! I found some super precious books at Goodwill and went crazy at Staples ( I LOVE STAPLES!!).

If you're curious about this vintage book journal I am using the DIY from Amanda's blog and if you're interested in doing one yourself here is the link! I would love to know if you're doing something similar this year!

Hope y'all are having a good year so far! A new year is just another adventure if you really think about it :)

Pumpkin Carving!

Carving pumpkins is just one of those must do fall things. No matter how old I get I think (and hope) I'll always want to carve a pumpkin. It's awesome to just get your hands messy and laugh and be creative.

This year I made a Martha Stewart inspired zombie pumpkin which is awesome because as it rots and gets all nasty it only looks more zombified!

Our little nursery is sweet.

So this is what it looked like before I was completely finished but also before it sat for a week....

Here's what it looks like now!

MUCH spookier!

We had our Halloween party Saturday and I can't wait to show you the cute decorations I put in the backyard! I'll be sad when Halloween is over...

Enjoy your Halloween! Let's hope I don't eat all our trick-or-treater candy before Wednesday!

Banner DIY

I'd really been wanting to make a banner for my bedroom. I have a burlap one downstairs (recycled from my wedding) that I love and thought it would be fun to make another one.

This one is super easy because I only really used the fabric, fabric glue, and some hemp string.

Simple enough and NO SEWING. (I would like to sew but, alas, I have no sewing machine...and let's be honest, I'm not patient enough to do it by hand)

I got all my fabric from the scrap bins at our craft stores. Pretty simple and inexpensive.

I traced my circles using a rando plate (I did semicircles because I am off triangles for now (although they are super cute)).

WARNING: This is EXTREMELY boring for puppies. (apparently)

After cutting all the fabric I just glued the inside of my circles and strung them on the string. Easy enough! I did go ahead and iron the fabric because some of the pieces had weird creases in them.

I left the string on the sides long in case I wanted to use them somewhere else in the future.

Archie is still not impressed....
